The power of committing to a mentor

The power of committing to a mentor

Dr Gail Matthews of Dominican University in California reported some fascinating research into goal setting. She found four key elements to successful goal setting.

1 - Write down your goals.
2 - Formulate and write down action commitments linked to those goals.
3 - Share this information with someone such as a mentor or friend.
4 - Hold yourself accountable to that person with weekly updates.

She found that those who do these four steps are 77 percent more likely to achieve their goals than those who simply have a mental goal. Astounding but true!

Now take time to reflect on the transformative effect on your life and career if you replace the word 'goal' with 'career objective' and then carry out the four steps. #proteuscareermanagement
